Bar Packages

at Black Walnut Farm

If there’s one thing Black Walnut Farm is known for, it’s the bar.

Our farm-to-glass wedding bar packages carry the celebration, from the first welcome drink to the DJ’s last needle drop— and, more often than not, a final round around the bonfire.

We’ve all been to weddings where the drinks are forgettable at best: watery gin and tonics, mystery red wine, and a bar line that rivals airport security. That’s not our style. At Black Walnut Farm, the bar is designed to be generous, efficient, and genuinely enjoyable— so guests spend more time toasting and less time waiting.

A Farm-to-Glass Bar Program, Rooted in Place

At Black Walnut Farm, our bar program is built around a farm-to-glass philosophy, drawing directly from the land, the season, and the rich agricultural history of the Hudson Valley. We create vibrant, colorful cocktails that feel rooted in place, built with flair, and are genuinely fun to drink.

We grow and forage a wide range of herbs, fruits, and botanicals specifically for our cocktail program, allowing guests to sip drinks made with ingredients harvested just steps from the bar. It’s a delicious fusion of agriculture and mixology, and one of the most distinctive parts of celebrating here.

We don’t just set the bar high. We grow it ourselves.

Crafted the Old-School Way

Farm-made bitters, shrubs, and syrups are a specialty of Black Walnut Farm. This time-honored approach to preserving fresh flavors dates back to the Colonial era, when the farm was first established. Today, we use these techniques to build layered, expressive cocktails that feel both rooted in history and perfectly suited to a modern celebration.

The result? Drinks that are thoughtfully made, and a bar experience guests are still talking about long after the last strains of “Mr Brightside’ have died out.

Supporting Local Producers

The Hudson Valley is home to some of the finest craft distilleries, wineries, and breweries in the country, and our bar program proudly showcases them. By prioritizing local producers, we’re able to offer beverages with exceptional quality and character while supporting the small businesses that make this region so special.

It’s better for the community, better for the planet, and better in the glass.

Effortless, First-Class Service

Having Black Walnut Farm create your bar experience offers unmatched ease and professionalism (plus, we’re allergic to lines at the bar). Our turnkey service eliminates the need to source alcohol, manage bar logistics, or coordinate permits— allowing you to stay focused on celebrating with the people you love.

All alcohol is served in full compliance with state-required permits and licenses, a level of oversight not all caterers or mobile bar services provide. From setup to last call, we handle the details so you can simply sip, savor, and enjoy.

Thoughtfully Curated, Expert-Led

The bar program at Black Walnut Farm is led by owner Sarah Tracey, whose background as a sommelier, mixologist, and nationally recognized drinks expert brings depth, creativity, and precision to every menu. Each package is curated with a keen understanding of balance, seasonality, and how people actually drink at a celebration— ensuring the bar feels generous, polished, and perfectly paced throughout the night.

A Signature Experience: Your Mixology Session

One of the things couples love most about our bar program is the private mixology session. The month before your wedding, couples sit down with Sarah to make, taste, tweak, and create their signature cocktails together.

It’s relaxed, hands-on, and genuinely fun— a chance to play with flavors, work with ingredients grown on the farm, and design drinks that are true showstoppers. By the time the weekend arrives, your cocktails aren’t just names on a menu; they’re something you helped create (and of course, we’ll let you take allll the credit!).

Moments That Surprise & Delight

We believe the best weddings are made up of small, unexpected moments that turn a great party into a great memory.

Couples at Black Walnut Farm often choose to greet guests with a seasonal spritz cart, roll out an espresso martini hour right on the dance floor, or wind the night down with a local bourbon tasting around the bonfire. These are the flourishes we’re known for: playful, a little indulgent, and wildly fun. The showstopping touches that keep guests wondering what’s coming next.

These moments are customized based on the flow of your weekend and the kind of experience you want to create for your guests.

FAQs: Bar Packages

  • Bar package pricing is set by event year. Each November, we announce pricing for the following calendar year.

If you’re booking more than one year in advance, the pricing you see at the time of booking is shared for reference only and may change as we approach your event year. This allows us to account for fluctuations in spirits, wine, and ingredient costs while maintaining the quality and staffing our bar program is known for.

Once pricing for your event year is released, those rates are locked and will not increase— even though final bar selections are made closer to your wedding. We always share updated pricing well in advance so couples can plan with confidence.

  • Yes. All bar packages include professional bartenders provided by Black Walnut Farm. Our team is fully trained, licensed, and experienced with the flow of weddings on the property—so service feels seamless from the first pour to last call.

  • About three months before your wedding, we will reach out to begin planning your bar selections, including packages, add-ons, and signature cocktails. Couples hosting a full wedding weekend will also schedule their mixology session at this time.

Your bar package is finalized and billed 30 days before your wedding, once your expected guest count is confirmed. An invoice will be sent at that point for payment.

  • Absolutely. We take the same creative, thoughtful approach to non-alcoholic cocktails as we do to the rest of the bar. If you’d like zero-proof options, just let us know during your mixology planning.

Some couples also choose to offer a “spike it” option, allowing guests to enjoy the drink either way.

  • Due to our liquor license, we’re unable to serve alcohol purchased at retail. All alcohol must be sourced through our wholesale distributor and served by our licensed team.

This structure ensures full compliance with state regulations and includes liquor liability insurance, so everything is handled properly and professionally.
