A Hudson Valley Wedding Venue with Exceptional Hospitality
A wedding at Black Walnut Farm isn’t powered by spectacle or scale.
It’s supported by people who understand how a weekend unfolds — and how to make room for the moments in between.
We’re often described as a Hudson Valley wedding venue with exceptional hospitality, not because we try to impress, but because we’re clear about how support works here. Roles are defined. Responsibilities are shared. Nothing feels rushed. No one is guessing.
If you value experience over performance, you’ll recognize yourself in this approach.
How We Support a Wedding Weekend
At Black Walnut Farm, hospitality is structured — not scripted.
Every wedding weekend is supported by a clearly defined, in-house team. Each role focuses on a specific part of the experience, working together so the weekend feels generous, unhurried, and easy to settle into.
This role-forward structure allows us to be present without hovering, prepared without being rigid, and confident without explaining ourselves.
It’s how we create a wedding weekend that feels alive.
Our Approach to Exceptional Hospitality
Being a Hudson Valley wedding venue with exceptional hospitality means knowing who’s holding what — and then letting the weekend breathe.
We don’t rely on improvisation or last-minute problem solving. We rely on people who know the rhythm of the property, the pace of a wedding day, and the quiet work required to make everything feel seamless.
The roles below stay consistent from weekend to weekend, even as people naturally come and go over time. That consistency is what allows couples — and their guests — to relax.
Hospitality Concierge
This role is dedicated to you.
Your Hospitality Concierge focuses on the personal side of the wedding weekend — preparing the farmhouse, setting the tone for your arrival, and quietly supporting the details that make the experience feel welcoming from the start.
They oversee:
Farmhouse amenities and arrival details
Preparation of shared spaces before you arrive
Your Something Borrowed Collection selections
Setup and load-in days
Welcome gatherings, if you’re hosting one
Personal support throughout the weekend
A steady, familiar presence on the wedding day itself
This role is not about timelines or vendor logistics.
It’s about continuity, care, and comfort — someone who knows the shape of the weekend and helps it unfold naturally.
Event Coordinator
This role focuses on how the day moves.
Our Event Coordinator oversees venue flow and logistics, ensuring transitions feel smooth and the energy stays where it should.
They’re responsible for:
Understanding your event timeline as it relates to the venue
Coordinating vendor arrivals and access
Managing transitions between ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception
Addressing issues quietly as they arise
They work alongside your planner, if you have one.
Their role is to keep the structure sound so the experience never feels tight or rushed.
Service Captain
This role holds the room.
The Service Captain provides on-site leadership during your event, keeping the team aligned and responding quickly as the evening unfolds.
They focus on:
Real-time coordination and pacing
Supporting venue staff across spaces
Solving problems before they’re visible
Maintaining flow without interruption
You may never notice them directly — which usually means everything is going exactly as it should.
Farm Caretaker & Lead Gardener
This role cares for the land itself.
Our Farm Caretaker and Lead Gardener tends to the ceremony sites, gardens, and grounds that shape how the weekend feels long before guests arrive.
Their work follows the seasons, not trends.
It’s what makes the property feel settled, generous, and ready to welcome people in — a place meant to be used, enjoyed, and returned to.
Lead Stylist
This role focuses on how spaces come together.
Our Lead Stylist supports visual flow across the property, helping spaces feel cohesive and playful without tipping into stiffness.
They work with couples who appreciate design, but trust that good ideas don’t need to announce themselves — and that imagination needs room to move.
Prop-Purrr-ty Manager
This role supervises morale.
Keeps a watchful eye on the farmhouse.
Approves props by sitting on them.
Takes breaks in sunbeams.
Every good hospitality team has one.
Why Roles Matter
Exceptional hospitality doesn’t come from doing more.
It comes from knowing what matters.
Clear roles mean:
fewer questions on the wedding day
fewer handoffs
fewer moments of uncertainty
When everyone knows what they’re responsible for, the weekend opens up. Guests linger. Conversations stretch. Plans leave room for spontaneity.
That’s the kind of hospitality we believe in — and why couples seeking a Hudson Valley wedding venue with exceptional hospitality tend to feel at home here.
