Preferred Catering Partners at Black Walnut Farm
At Black Walnut Farm, dinner never has to feel like “wedding food.”
Our catering partners bring very different points of view to the table: live-fire cooking, handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, generous farm dinners, Indian feasts, excellent barbecue, and the occasional tortilla made from fresh masa right outside the barn.
What they have in common is that they know the property, understand how events move here, and work well with our team. That matters.
Once you have attended your tasting and chosen your menu, your caterer and the Black Walnut Farm team will coordinate the practical details directly. Kitchen plans. Service timing. Rentals. Floor plans. All the things that should be handled, without turning into your new part-time job.
A Note About Pricing
(We know you’re curious!)
Each caterer structures pricing a little differently. Some packages include staffing, rentals, and tableware; others price those separately.
Sample menus are linked where available, but please contact the caterer directly for current pricing and a proposal based on your guest count, menu, and preferred style of service.
Bringing in Another Caterer
You are not required to choose from this list. The Hudson Valley has no shortage of people who know how to feed a party.
Any caterer who has not previously worked at Black Walnut Farm must complete our approval process before you sign a contract. This includes a conversation with our team, proof of insurance, a review of their staffing and service plan, and a site visit.
Please get our approval first. Not after the tasting. Not after the deposit. We reserve the right to decline a caterer when we see concerns around staffing, insurance, food safety, communication, or their ability to operate successfully at the property. This is not about limiting your choices. It is about protecting your dinner, your timeline, and the people you invited here to enjoy both!
We are your biggest advocates.
Staffing for Food Trucks and Drop-Off Catering
Some food trucks and drop-off caterers provide the food, but not the dining-room staff.
In those cases, you will need to hire servers or party helpers to set tables, manage food stations, clear plates and glassware, bus tables, refresh water, and set out dessert or late-night snacks. These services are not included with the Black Walnut Farm venue team.
You will find several excellent staffing options in our planning resources.
And now, on to our partners…
Chef-Led, Food-Forward Favorites
Joint Venture
Contact: Jessie Cacciocola, jointventurenyc@gmail.com
Founded by Chef Danny Newberg in 2015, Joint Venture was created as an alternative to the traditional restaurant model: restaurant-level cooking brought into homes, barns, farms, fields, and wherever else a very good meal belongs.
Their menus follow the season and the setting. Expect bold food, beautiful ingredients, live-fire cooking, and dishes that feel artful and look vibrant and stunning.
A strong match for couples who want the meal to feel expressive, memorable, and deeply connected to the place where it is served– and who really want to blow guests away with the food.

Chef Deanna
Contact: Chef Deanna D’Angelo, chefdeannamariedangelo@gmail.com
Chef Deanna’s cooking begins with organic ingredients, local farms, handmade food, and her Sicilian roots.
She makes nearly everything from scratch, including the pasta, and cooks in cast iron before serving her dishes on vintage china. Herbs, edible flowers, and wildflowers often find their way into the presentation. It is beautiful, but never too polished to eat with enthusiasm. Her style is warm, abundant, and unmistakably her own. She is also professional, joyful to work with, and supported by an excellent service team.
For couples imagining handmade pasta, vintage plates, and a dinner that feels as though a very talented Italian aunt has taken over the farmhouse kitchen.
Fig & Pig Catering
Contact: Tammy Basten, info@figandpigcatering.com
Founded by Chef Holly Sheppard, Fig & Pig is a chef-led, full-service catering company known for seasonal menus, high-quality ingredients, and a strong culinary point of view.
Their team manages the full catering experience, from tastings and menu development to service staff, rentals, and event execution. The front-of-house team brings the same attention to the room that the chefs bring to the immaculate food.
Fig & Pig is for couples who want serious cooking, without a serious atmosphere.
Trusted Full-Service Partners
Lekker Catering
Contact: Chef Juan Romero, (845) 532-1963lekker209@gmail.com
“Lekker” is Dutch for delicious. A useful name for a catering company.
Led by Chef Juan Romero, Lekker brings bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and decades of Hudson Valley cooking experience to weddings and events. Their food is generous, colorful, and built for a crowd.
Their wedding packages are among the most complete on our partner list, with menu options, culinary staff, service staff, and many of the tabletop pieces couples would otherwise need to source separately. They can accommodate buffet, family-style, or plated service and are happy to discuss menus built around your event.
They also operate a food truck, making them a useful option for welcome parties and rehearsal dinners– just leave your whole weekend to Chef Juan, and then go enjoy yourself!
Lekker is one of our regular catering partners, and for good reason. Very good food. A remarkably complete offering. A team we are always happy to see pull into the driveway!
Rhinecliff Event Catering
James Chapman, events@rhevcat.com(917) 797-1209
Rhinecliff creates seasonal, locally sourced food with friendly, attentive service and a great deal of personal care.
Their menus feel abundant and unfussy: the kind of farm dinner people happily return to for another helping. They consistently deliver more than couples expect, and their tastings have been known to leave people both spoiled and very well fed.
The owners are exceptionally kind, the service team is excellent, and they will develop a proposal around your event, menu, and preferred style of service.
A note from Sarah: James is both the owner and the chef. He is often cooking rather than sitting at a desk, so inquiry responses may not be immediate. Give him a little time. We think the food and care are worth it.
Spice Catering
Contact: Chef Billy Turner, turner.billy1975@gmail.com
Spice is a full-service catering team in the fullest sense of the phrase. They can manage the meal, rentals, service staff, maître d’, and many of the practical pieces surrounding dinner.
Chef Billy Turner and his team are especially good at incorporating dishes, ingredients, and traditions that carry meaning for a family. Cultural, religious, and family recipes are welcomed into the conversation rather than treated like complications.
Their first wedding at Black Walnut Farm made an immediate impression. The food was delicious. The team was capable, generous, and genuinely lovely to work with. We added them to this list almost immediately.
Sometimes you just know.

Bar Packages at Black Walnut Farm
Do we have to use one of Black Walnut Farm’s preferred caterers?
No. You are welcome to bring in another caterer, but they must complete our approval process before you sign a contract. That includes a conversation with our team, proof of insurance, a review of their staffing plan, and a site visit.
Please get our approval first. Not after the tasting. Not after the deposit. We are your biggest advocates, and will make sure they raise no red flags.
What does the caterer approval process involve?
We look at experience, staffing, insurance, food-safety practices, communication, and their ability to operate successfully at the property.
This is not about limiting your choices. It is about protecting your dinner, your timeline, and your guests’ experience.
Does Black Walnut Farm coordinate with our caterer?
Yes. Once you have chosen your menu, our team works directly with your caterer on the practical details: kitchen plans, service timing, rentals, floor plans, and the flow of dinner.
You choose the meal. We help make sure the weekend around it feels effortless.
Can we have a food truck or drop-off catering?
Yes. Food trucks and drop-off catering can be a great fit for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and more casual wedding meals.
If the caterer does not provide service staff, you will need to hire servers or party helpers to set tables, manage stations, bus dishes, refresh water, and handle dessert or late-night food.
Please note: trucks and trailers will need to have 14” of ground clearance to safely access our property.
Does Black Walnut Farm provide servers?
Our venue team does not provide general dining-room service. Your caterer should supply the necessary kitchen and service staff, or you will need to hire a separate staffing team.
How much does wedding catering cost at Black Walnut Farm?
Catering prices vary depending on the menu, guest count, service style, staffing, rentals, and what is included in the caterer’s package.
We link sample menus where available, but you should contact each caterer directly for current pricing and a proposal based on your event.
